STAT 5511: Time Series Analysis

I (sometimes) teach STAT 5511, Time Series Analysis. The course webpage is on Canvas, not here, and so is limited to enrolled students. If you are considering taking the course you can find here a syllabus and a quiz about the prerequisite material.

As that PDF mentions, the material on this practice quiz will generally be reviewed over the first few lectures (the first two or three). It is based on the prerequisites for the course. Some questions involve basics of complex numbers, which students should have learned at some point but may not have used in a long time; again, this will be reviewed, but we will not linger on it.

The point of the quiz is to give students some information about the fit of the course, since no course can effectively serve all students at once, so that they can make an informed decision about whether to enroll. In my version of STAT 5511 a quiz of this type is given early on, in the first week or so, after the review mentioned above. Some students may not be able to answer all the questions without doing some review, which may be fine. But if the quiz looks unfamiliar or very difficult, then the course may be an uphill battle.
